Custom Cornices

A cornice, meaning “ledge” in Italian, is a decorative molding that crowns a window, door or wall.  Unlike many window treatments, cornices are not about addressing sun control or privacy; instead, they “finish” the design of a window.  They provide an eye-catching focal point in any room, whether wood, upholstered, soft or metal.  Wood cornices can add architectural detail and transport a room into royalty.  The wood can be painted or stained, matching the color of existing trim and crown molding.  Fabric-covered cornices can seamlessly match any décor, blending with bed coverings, walls, rugs, furniture, etc. due to the endless variety of colors, solids, patterns and textures.  An arched, scalloped or shaped cornice will beautifully follow the shape of a window without masking it.  Available in a variety of sizes, each choice will change the look and feel of the interior, adding another dimension of detail.  Add stencils, appliques, ruffles, tassels, fringe detail, etc. for a completely personalized look.  Not only do cornices add a bold design element; they also conceal head rails, hardware and architectural flaws such as an uneven window height or an imperfect window frame.  These window treatments can be a great solution for those areas that cannot accommodate a full drapery panel, such as a bathroom and kitchen, but still provide the beauty of fabric nonetheless.
